Our Health Ministries and Parish Nursing

The Office of Church and Health Ministries

At Norton Healthcare, our faith heritage has been the cornerstone for how we deliver health care in our community. For more than a century, we have been guided by the faith-based values of our founding organizations. These values advocate that healing and faith go hand in hand -- that we must treat the whole person to promote good health and quality of life.

The Office of Church and Health Ministries was created out of Norton Healthcare's commitment to extend this healing mission to all faith communities and to strengthen relationships with our founding churches and others that are part of our faith history - Episcopal, United Methodist, United Church of Christ, Presbyterian and Roman Catholic.

What is Parish/Faith Community Nursing?

Parish/faith community nursing is one component of a faith congregation’s health ministry. The possible roles of a parish nurse are health counselor, health educator, facilitator, referral source, and integrator of health and healing.  There are over 100 churches of various denominations in the Louisville and Southern Indiana area that have parish/faith community nurses. For more information, click on one of the links below or call the Norton Healthcare Office of Church and Health Ministries at (502) 629-2700.
